神之水滴系列 Chateau Goulee by Cos d’Estournel

七月份的「神之水滴」系列試酒活動,進入第二個星期。本週未我們將會試系出名門的Chateau Goulee 2005年。

Goulee可以說是法國著名Grand Cru 二級酒莊Cos d’Estournel,對「風土性」及葡萄比例上的開發與追尋。酒莊以Cos d’Estournel的釀造團隊主理,表明要釀造出一支可以完全代表「當代波爾多風格」的紅酒。所用的葡萄比例是法國酒傳統的80% 赤霞珠和20%梅洛,但郤要表現出既帶有美國Napa Valley 的厚重、親和感,同時又不失法國酒的靈氣的作品。結果,他們成功了!

著名酒評家Robert Parker對此酒的評價相當高,曾形容此酒是「在經典的葡萄比例下,傾注時代感」(have fashioned a brilliant blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot.)

我們今次會試的2005年Goulee, 更被視為酒莊近年的代表作。Parker 自2006年起,連續3年為這個年份作跟進式的酒評,並給予89-91分的高度評價。香氣複雜多變,帶有黑梅、橄欖和泥土的香氣,點點煙燻氣息,加上清新而具架構的單寧,充份表現出釀造者的認真,可長時間陳年達12至14年。值得一提的是,很多酒評家都認為此酒的升值空間很高。

I would like to invite you to our Chateau Goulée wine tasting this weekend at our Tin Yiu shop!

You might have heard of this Chateau before but let me give you a bit more about her background. The Goulée is a new wine produced by the prestigious team at the Cos d’Estournel, a famed 2nd Growth Grand Cru chateau. The vineyard is in Northern Medoc. It spreads out over a hill of gravelly soil, facing the Gironde estuary. 

Goulée, which used to be an island surrounded by the waters of the estuary, has a deep gravel terroir worthy of the best Grands Cru’s, and is treated as such by the team at Cos d’Estournel. 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot their mission is to make a modern style Bordeaux that would feel like Napa with a French twist.

Our tasting wine, the 2005 vintage of Goulée, is one of her best vintages of the decade. As commented by wine expert Robert Parker, “Proprietor Michel Reybrie and his winemaker, Jean-Guillaume Prats, have fashioned a brilliant blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot. The dark purple-hued 2005 reveals a sumptuous bouquet of liquorice, black currants, black olives, smoke, and damp earth. Fleshy and supple textured with good tannin as well as decent acidity, this seriously endowed, complex effort can be consumed over the next 12-14 years.” Parker rated the wine as 89 – 91 points.
